CommercialWildlife School Garden, Richard Taylor School, Harrogate
This overgrown, school piece of land has been transformed into a wildlife, forest garden where the children can learn. Richard Taylor school students now enjoy spending time in the garden everyday. Outdoor play and being in nature is proven to increase mental health amongst children, it can increase rates of learning by 20-25%, improve test results, concentration levels and attendance, and significantly reduces the impacts of ADHD. The children play in the willow den, plant their own vegetables, have lessons on the large decked area and enjoy the lush, wildlife planting area with their own custom made birdbath. On some days they are lucky enough to have Kite’s perching in these trees and hedgehogs visit the hedgehog house. This garden is now a true wildlife, outdoor learning haven for the children.
