My latest new build project was handed over to it’s owners with the typical turf and small patio, the patio hardly big enough for two people even though it’s a 5-bedroom house? New build gardens irritate me quite a lot, to be honest.. the investment and energy seem to go into the house, and in most cases, the garden seems to be the very last thought? Usually, the ONLY option for the client is topsoil or turf, even when the house exceeds £750K? Surely developers should be thinking about the inside/outside living we all crave, creating one room to help sell houses and give the buyers a healthy, modern lifestyle that also connects them with nature? And don’t get me started on how overlooked they typically are ? It’s always a pleasure to transform such a bland space into something special for my clients’. However, I do hope that developers start to recognize the benefits of offering a functional, yet beautiful garden to potential buyers. Surely houses would sell quicker? And they would certainly be providing a healthier lifestyle and positive wellbeing to future residents…

Come on developers, don’t just concentrate on the interior design think about the garden design too!
